Private Instruction

No two students are the same or have the same goals. Therefore, I tailor make the lessons to best fit the student's desired area of study. I place a lot of emphasis on developing a student's technique, harmonic and melodic concept, time keeping ability and groove.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, all instruction is done online with Zoom until further notice.

I teach both Electric and Acoustic Bass. I also teach Jazz Theory and Improvisation.

Professional Credentials

I attended Mannes College of Music and Berklee College of music. I studied privately with Buster Williams, George Marz, Homer Mensch, Mike Longo and Jon Burr.

Teaching Experience

I have taught jazz bass and improvisation since 1985 and ensembles since 1993. Presently, I am teaching at UC Berkeley, The Jazzschool and The California Jazz Conservatory..
